This has a bit of a heavy, stressful week so I am focusing on the small things in my life that are bringing me some relief and even joy. I hope that you find some happiness in my list and I would love to hear about what is bringing good feelings in your life.
I spent a whole day doing dental exams on preschoolers. They are too young to be scared of the dentist and also too young to be self conscious. The stories they told me and how excited they were to have clean, healthy teeth made me joyful in return. Not to mention, some of you parents are really killing it with the toddler fashion choices. These kids dressed better than me, even when I try!
One Woman’s Trash …
I found this digital camera while organizing and sent it to my 14 year old niece. Based on reporting from the field, I understand that the digital cameras are making a comeback with the youths. She was very excited to have this one just in time for HoCo (which I am being told is Homecoming).
Acts of Service
I am not a mom and therefore not a band mom, but I know a few. My sister asked me to make this sweatshirt for a fellow band mom and this was my final creation. It is not my original design, but I had to do a lot of work to the design to make it work. It took several hours of my time this week, but my sister was very happy with the final product! It brought me pride and joy to get it figured out (although I will not do this one again).
I VOTED!!
In Illinois, we have permanent mail in ballots. I love it because I never miss an election, even the midterms or local elections. My ballot showed up at the end of last week and I made sure to return it in person. I was not leaving it up to the magic of the mail to make sure it made it to the polling place!
Making my space work for me
I am working on rearranging my craft room and clearing out the aspirational junk that is weighing me down. These pics are mid-project, but I am already feeling calmer and happier.
The Debates Are Over
And if you are reading this, you made it!! I ate ice cream and stress-crocheted my way through this one, but I watched. I am celebrating that I don’t have to sit through any more of these (allegedly) this election cycle. I don’t think this one changed a single mind and I don’t truly believe there are voters who do not have their minds made up by now so I am glad these are over. The crocheting and ice cream brought me immense joy!
I hope you are having an abundance of joy this week. The easiest way to make me happy is to share some of your own. What brought you peace, calm, joy, or chuckles this week?

My joy was the sweatshirt my sister made for my friend. And the shirt and shako I made for the band kids to put on their mascots!!
You are what brings me joy! When I look at you, I am amazed that I had a part in creating you. That shirt you made is so cool! I love it. And I love you more. Feels good to have voted. I have too, so now we have to leave it to the rest of the country. Hopefully the felon and crew will not be elected again.
